Like the first day of a new school year, a new 2020-2021 AMA board year brings feelings of excitement, optimism, and a little nervousness for what’s to come. This year, those feelings are amplified. I think it’s safe to say that 2020-2021 will certainly be one for the history books… a truly unprecedented year. The world is very different than it was a year ago. Remote work is now the norm, we’ve traded in-person meetings with coworkers for Zoom calls featuring cameos by our pets and we frequently lose track of whether it’s still 2020 or 2035. We may be in the middle of a pandemic, but what makes AMA Triangle so special is the very thing we need most right now – community. As a result, we’ll always provide the AMAzing marketing content you love, but we’ll also develop what we like to call, “The Whole Marketer Promise,” which means always remembering that while we are marketers, we’re also parents, grandparents, siblings, cousins, friends, spouses, and partners. We love marketing, but we also love cooking, dancing, biking, hiking, running, swimming, music, sports, traveling, and so much more. We’re a community of PEOPLE first and foremost, and right now, more than ever, we’re striving to be the community our members deserve – a place where each and every one of you feels you truly belong. |
AMA Triangle’s Commitment to Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI)As a woman of color and our chapter’s first Black president, I understand that representation is everything. I am honored to be the representation that propels our chapter into a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive future. Not only have we developed a fully-staffed DEI team, but we’ve also weaved DEI commitments, initiatives, and KPIs into the very fiber of our constitution and everything we do because we believe marketing is for everyone. We see you. We welcome you. We hear you and we are listening.
New ProgrammingAs a 100% volunteer-run non-profit, absolutely everything we do is meant to enrich the lives of our volunteers, members, and community as a whole. As such, the safety of our community the COVID-19 pandemic is our top priority, which is why we’ve decided to keep all chapter events 100% virtual through June 2021. Though it may be safest to be physically apart, it doesn’t change the fact that we miss you all so much and can’t wait to see you in person. So, until we can safely meet again, we’ll host a ton of additional networking and social events to keep us connected. Let’s be real: we could all use a little more human interaction these days! And, to make it even easier to connect, all of our virtual events (with the exception of workshops) will be 100% free for AMA members through the end of our 2020-2021 year.
In addition to our webinars, socials, and networking events, we’ll also introduce the following changes:

Yes, we are in the middle of a pandemic, but what makes our chapter so special is the very thing our members need most right now – rallying around and supporting each other, forming strong community bonds, turning friends into family, creating excitement, and always feeling like we belong. To quote Mulan, one of my favorite Disney movies, “The flower that blooms in adversity is the rarest and most beautiful of all.” I’m honored to be your 2020-2021 AMA Triangle President and so incredibly excited for the privilege to lead this extraordinarily talented, inspiring, and dedicated organization. This is YOUR chapter and this year is all about YOU, our community. So I want to hear your thoughts, your feedback, your ideas, your suggestions, your feelings… YOUR VOICE. With that said, I invite you to reach out to me any time! Let’s build the community you deserve and UNLEASH THE MAGIC of AMA Triangle!
Who’s ready?
— Misty Wilson AMA Triangle 2020-2021 President
