AMA Triangle Mentorship Program

Why participate?

This is a great opportunity to find a mentor or support a protege to help with marketing skills questions, career growth needs, or challenging work situations outside the constraints of your company. We make the process easy and engaging by providing:

  • Guidance on how to select a mentor or protege
  • A matchmaking event to easily find your mentor or protege
  • Two events with a leadership coach to help you expand your leadership abilities
  • Recognition for program completion and awards

Protégé

The value of a mentor who can help cultivate leadership skills one-on-one in real-time, reduce the anxiety in taking big steps, and focus leaders on achieving their goals – is huge. But finding the right mentor can be challenging…AMA Triangle is here to help!

Requirements:

  • Collegiate-level protégés should be undergraduates in their junior or senior year with an interest in marketing, business or a related field
  • Professional-level protégés must have a minimum of one year of industry or internship experience (regardless of age or education)

Mentor

Mentoring is a two-way street where both participants give and take, learn, grow, and enhance their professional skills. It’s also a great way to give back to the community while gaining a perspective from up-and-coming marketers.

Requirements:

  • Must have at least five years continuous, professional experience
 

Five Things to Know About CONNECT & INSPIRE

  1. Investment:
    • FREE for AMA Triangle members, NC collegiate AMA chapter members, and mentors
    • $49 non-refundable fee for professional-level, non-member protégés
    • $29 non-refundable fee for collegiate-level protégés not in a collegiate chapter, which includes a 1 year membership to AMA Triangle
  2. Requirements:
    • Mentors = 5+ years of experience
    • Protégés = 1 year of experience – or – junior/senior year of undergrad
  3. Matching Process:
    • We’ve developed a 3-point matching system that’s designed to create a genuine connection based on personality, skills, and goals. Check out our Protege Conversation Starter Guide
  4. Flexibility:
    • Every mentor/protégé pair is unique, so we encourage each pair to discuss and determine when, how frequently, and what methods of communication they’ll use
  5. Timing:
    • The program will begin with a kick-off event where our participants get acquainted with each other in a speed-dating session format determine personality, interest, and capability matches. (*After the match event, we will ask for your mentor-protege rankings.)
    • Those results will be paired with resumes and applications details over the next week or so to determine mentor/protégé pairs. Pairs will be notified by e-mail of their match.
    • From there, mentor-protégé pair will meet to set goals and set their meeting cadence. We’ll check in periodically, just to make sure things are going smoothly.
    • We’ll also provide plenty of resources and networking opportunities with the whole-CONNECT & INSPIRE program.
    • Finally, we’ll wrap the program up in June with a CONNECT & INSPIRE Graduation to celebrate your incredible journey with your partner throughout the year.
