Together, we’re building an even stronger AMA Triangle
Hi, I’m Jen and I’m excited to be kicking off a new program year for AMA Triangle as your new chapter president. This year, the Triangle Chapter of the American Marketing Association has been actively engaged in our community for 45 years! We are one of the largest chapters in the country with a long history too.
The American Marketing Association is the essential community for marketers, and here in the Triangle, one of the country’s fastest growing areas for business, this is especially important. Our region offers a mix of large global company headquarters and an unrivaled entrepreneurial community. Our chapter proudly has members from all over the region and from companies of all sizes. That’s what makes membership in AMA incredibly valuable.
A bit on me in case we haven’t met yet. I joined the chapter in January 2021 after moving to North Carolina during the pandemic. I didn’t know anyone locally aside from my family, and after months of being stuck at home, I volunteered to lead the Connect & Inspire mentorship program. From there, I was invited to join the board in July of 2022 as the VP of programming where I organized our events. I then shifted into the VP of Community Relations in July 2023, helping to grow our mentorship and collegiate programs. Last year, I was elected to a 3 year term to lead the chapter, and I’ve been working to lay the groundwork for my year as president that officially starts today. I own my own business as a fractional Chief Marketing Officer and I work with other small businesses to build their own visibility and strategy.
What can you expect from AMA Triangle in the coming year?
- Our website is being rebuilt as we speak. This includes both a new design and new functionality that we’ll be rolling out throughout this year.
- We are improving our volunteer experience to make sure that everyone who wants to support the chapter can easily do so. To me, volunteering is how you get the most out of your membership.
- We will continue to grow our partnerships with our local university chapters and students. All of our programs and events support our local region, offering mentorship, job search, community service and diversity awareness programs that are unrivaled.
Our chapter’s volunteer-run board spends the month of July planning our upcoming program year, so please watch for more speaker events and programs to start up again in August.
Until then, here are 4 things you can do this month:
- Our Marketers After Hours networking events will be going through the summer! Conveniently located in Raleigh and Cary, this is a free opportunity to get to meet others. Register today.
- If you are a current member, do you know when your membership expires? Check your membership expiration date by logging into ama.org and to make sure you stay connected with AMA, set that membership to autorenew.
- If you aren’t seeing emails from us, and can’t find them in any other folders, let us know. Email communications@triangleama.org and we’ll make sure you’re on the list.
- We publish all of our events on Eventbrite. If you aren’t also following our page there, sign up for updates when new events are published.
My sincere hope is that the coming year will spark some inspiration for you. Whether it’s through making new connections and friendships, learning the skills and trends that will shape marketing, there is something for everyone at AMA Triangle. Whether you work in the marketing field or work to support those that do, I welcome you to the essential community for marketers in the Triangle.
