President’s Message – Celebrating Membership
It’s certainly a strange time to be a marketer. AI is eating into the work each of us does at a mind-blowing rate. I know I’ve been forced to confront deep, existential questions like:
- Does the work I do matter?
- How do I keep from falling behind?
- How do I thrive in a world where some of my “superskills” can be done in a fraction of the time?
As marketing professionals, we’re facing down a complete restructuring of the way we do our work. We’re having to think like managers, engineers, copywriters, researchers, video editors and data scientists, and more. To achieve the best results from this transformation our skills need to be sharpened, networks need to be built. In short, now more than ever, a strong community is the key to success.
And that’s why I’ve invested so much time and energy into the Triangle chapter of the American Marketing Association. We are THE community of marketers in the Triangle, which means at our events you can have direct conversations with CMOs on how they’re managing their way through a changing environment. Or explore how agency professionals are tailoring workflows to make the most of their time and effort. Or ask SEO specialists how they’re changing tactics to meet the new information age.
Being in community with folks who are all tackling the same challenges in different ways is how we keep ourselves at the top of our game, how we keep ourselves from getting overwhelmed at the sheer volume of change happening in our industry, and how we prepare for whatever comes next.
Over the course of April, you’re going to hear from other AMA voices on the value of membership, how you can get involved with your local chapter, and spread the word to your friends and colleagues. We’ll also have more details on the benefits of membership at both the national and local levels. But the core of what we do is create a community, where marketers come together to learn, grow, and share their experiences. You’re getting this email because at some point you’ve been a part of AMA, as a member, a visitor, or just someone curious about who we are. We’re grateful for however you’ve chosen to engage with us, and we hope you’ll continue to be what makes this community of marketers great.
If you’d like to chat with me or another member about how the Triangle chapter can help you navigate marketing in the age of AI, reach out to info@triangleama.org. If you’ve recently joined and are trying to figure out how to get more involved, please join us at April 10th AMA Triangle New Member Orientation Breakfast to share coffee and conversation with fellow Triangle marketers.
We’d love to hear from you!
